One of the highlights of Wood Tavern is the pork chop, which has been dubbed the best pork chop ever eaten by one customer. The Marsala sauce accompanying the dish is so good that it should come with a straw! Another standout dish is the ribeye steak, cooked to a perfect medium rare and bursting with flavor. The Butcher's block appetizer offers a variety of cold cuts, jams, and sauces, perfect for sharing with a group.
While the food at Wood Tavern is consistently great, some customers have noted that the service lacks warmth and friendliness. Despite this drawback, the efficient servers ensure that orders are taken promptly and food is delivered in a timely manner.

The best pork chop I've ever eaten in my life. Every time. Consistently and dependably amazing. The Marsala sauce is so good they should include a straw with the meal. Insanely good.

We had a fantastic experience here recently. We came without reservations, totally expecting a long wait or to be turned away. We ended up getting the chef's table and watched them cook all night long. It was a delight watching the relaxed professional cooks make this delicious food without a sweat, and every seat in the house was accounted for. Whoever I assume was the main chef even teased me because he could tell I had money riding on the NCAA Basketball game on the TV in the bar. As for actual food, we had risotto for an appetizer. She had the Steak and I had the Pork Chop. Everything was delicious. Pictures posted! We will definitely be coming back, every plater we saw prepared looked tasty!

I don't order chicken out, BUT NOWWWWW! Here, it's tempting to order it every time but, the other items are so dang good...I never regret not getting it. I love the pastrami sandwich, rib eye, soups, salads... It's the kinda place, you just TRUST the chefs. The bad ass side car is IT and they treat you like they care about you

This is one of local boutique bar & restaurants in Oakland. This restaurant offers a tantalizing array of delicious dishes that are sure to satisfy any taste. The food quality is consistently great, with each dish bursting with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. While the food is outstanding, the same cannot be said for the service. Unfortunately, the service lacks warmth and friendliness, which can detract from the overall dining experience. Despite this drawback, the servers are generally efficient in taking orders and delivering food promptly. Consider this place pricy like $20 cocktails ($16+tip&tax!) and you'll be charged $2 per portion if you'd like to share a soup or salad for instance! You'd better just order the item and share within yourselves Overall, this restaurant is a great choice for those seeking delectable cuisine, but don't expect the staff to go above and beyond in terms of friendliness. If you're willing to overlook the average service for the sake of enjoying fantastic food, this place is worth a visit. Parking might be difficult with paid street parking though a Safeway parking lot close by. It has accessible entrance with accessible table. Could be kids friendly but not good for groups / meetups as indoor is relatively small.

BEST STEAK IN THE BAY The bartender Wesley/ west ( can't remember he's name ) best bartender hands down - remembered our names and conversations we had last time we came . He even remembered our drinks 10/10 next time I come and don't see him Im walking out . Recommend sitting on the bar .

Wood Tavern offers an enchanting blend of lively ambiance, cozy atmosphere, and intimate dining that leaves a lasting impression. Despite the slight challenge of finding parking nearby (we were able to find parking within 2 blocks of the restaurant), the journey is undoubtedly worth the culinary delight that awaits inside! I went there to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were not disappointed. We made a reservation a week in advanced and we were promptly seated upon entering. We started off with the Butcher's block which was the perfect sharing size for our party of 5. It came with a variety of cold cuts, jams, and sauces. The highlight of the evening was the ribeye steak that I had for my entree. It was a generous portion size and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. For dessert we had a citrus cheesecake that had a honey syrup on top. It was tart and not too sweet. Throughout the evening, the attentive service further enhanced the dining experience. This restaurant is a bit pricey (~$40-50 for entree) but the food is definitely worth it and the price is reflective of the food's quality.

Came by for dinner the other night and it was a decent experience. Wood Tavern is featured in the Michelin guide. Street parking was available. Wood Tavern is located on the northern end of College Ave in Rockridge. Dining was available indoors in the dining room as well at the bar. Started off with the house smoked duck breast and it was fantastic. It was served with a side of crispy bread, some aioli, and mustard. The smokey flavor of the medium well breast was fantastic! The sauteed brussel sprouts were quite unique as it was mixed in with walnuts. The complimentary bread was tasty, half white and half with nuts. Had a choice of either olive oil or super soft butter. Split the grilled double pork chop as an entree with a half order of french fries and I felt this was the weakest part of the meal. Using Nopa in SF as the gold standard for pork chops, I felt this version was cooked towards a medium well and the sauce was a must to make the pork chop more palatable. The side of beans, vegetables, and mushrooms were definitely on the salty side... Finished the meal off with the banana tiramisu which was excellent and may have been the highlight of the meal. The tiramisu was super fresh and the bananas were super fragrant! Service was very cordial and sweet by our waitress. ~$55/head after tax and gratuity for dinner.
